What is OVS?

OVS is an Italian fashion retailer and the main banner of the listed company OVS S.p.A., headquartered in Venice. It sells clothing for women, men and children at accessible prices and is described as the largest clothing retailer in Italy, with roughly 5% of the national clothing market.

History

OVS was founded in 1972 as Organizzazione Vendite Speciali, a division of the Italian department store chain Coin. Long known as Oviesse, it remained part of the Coin group until its initial public offering in 2015, since when it has been listed on the Milan stock exchange, now Euronext Milan. The company has expanded through acquisitions, adding the Upim department store chain and fashion brands such as Stefanel and Les Copains. Stefano Beraldo led the company as chief executive through its listing and subsequent acquisitions.

Products and positioning

OVS positions itself as accessible fashion for families with a stated commitment to making more sustainable fashion available to everyone. The group's portfolio includes:

  • OVS, its core family fashion banner
  • Upim, a value store format
  • Goldenpoint for hosiery and underwear
  • OVS Kids and Blukids for children
  • Own brands such as Piombo, Stefanel, Les Copains and Croff

Business model and distribution

OVS S.p.A. describes a vertically integrated model that covers the whole value chain, from design and sourcing to retail. It runs more than 2,600 stores in Italy and abroad, mainly under the OVS, Upim and Goldenpoint banners, through a mix of directly operated and franchised stores, and employs over 9,000 people. Italy is by far its largest market. In fiscal 2025 the company reported net sales of 1,746 million euros and adjusted EBITDA of 218 million euros. In September 2026 it opened its largest flagship store to date in Dubai.
