What is Palace?

Palace Skateboards is a British skateboarding company and clothing label. It makes skate decks and a broad range of apparel and accessories, combining London humour and football references with skate culture. Its triangular Tri-Ferg logo is its best-known graphic.

History

Palace was founded in London in 2009 by Lev Tanju, with Gareth Skewis and Marshall Taylor also credited as co-founders. It grew out of a group of skaters around the Southbank, and its original team included Lucien Clarke, Olly Todd and Charlie Young. Early distribution ran through Dover Street Market, End Clothing and pop-ups before the first London store opened in 2015.

Products and positioning

Palace sits in the premium streetwear segment. It releases seasonal collections, and collaborations play a major role in reach and pricing power. Notable partners include:

  • Umbro (2012), Reebok (2013) and adidas (from 2014), including football and tennis projects
  • Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Moschino and Evisu
  • Salomon and Rapha in performance categories
  • A first collaboration with Nike, announced in October 2025

Business model and distribution

The company sells through its own stores and regional web shops. Wikipedia lists six stores in London plus flagships in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Seoul and Hong Kong, and the brand's website also lists a Singapore shop and online stores for Europe, the United States, Japan, Korea, Canada and Australia. Selected wholesale accounts have supported the brand since its early years. Palace also runs Manor Place, a skatepark and events venue in London.

Why it matters

Palace shows how a founder-led skate brand from London built global demand through community, humour and carefully chosen collaborations, while keeping control of distribution. Its partnerships with both adidas and Nike illustrate how sportswear giants use streetwear labels to reach younger consumers.
