What is HeroOnSocks?
HeroOnSocks is a sock label built around a social and environmental mission. Its socks are produced in Europe, with manufacturing in Poland and Italy, and the brand describes its production as fair trade within Europe. Around 40 percent of profits go to more than ten good causes.
Products and positioning
The range consists of sock collections in different materials, together with gift boxes. Two collections stand out:
- KisSocks, made with GOTS certified organic cotton
- #hackyourjeans, knitted from 100 percent recycled yarn made from old jeans blended with Tencel and Ecovero fibres from Lenzing
- Gift boxes of several pairs
For every pair from the #hackyourjeans collection sold, a pair is donated to homeless centres in Belgium. The socks contain small amounts of elastane or polyamide for stretch and comfort.
Production and sustainability
Yarn is dyed in a certified dye house without pesticides, and the socks are steamed and pressed to reduce shrinkage and extend their life. Packaging uses recycled cardboard, no glue and minimal printing.
Why it matters
HeroOnSocks illustrates how even a basic, high volume category such as socks can be repositioned around recycled fibres, nearshore production and a charitable model.
