Today it is one of the in-house labels of Nykaa Fashion, the fashion arm of the Indian beauty and lifestyle retailer Nykaa.

History

The business was founded by Sumant Kasliwal, who left a career in investment to start the company. In a 2016 interview he described the model as curated, stylist-led shopping and outlined plans to extend from its core into women's formalwear, ethnicwear, menswear, kidswear and international markets. Early backers included BS Nagesh, then non-executive chairman of Shoppers Stop.

In May 2019, Nykaa acquired 20Dresses.com, described at the time as a private women's styling platform. Nykaa had expanded into fashion in 2018 with the launch of Nykaa Fashion, which operates on a marketplace model.

Products and positioning

Under Nykaa Fashion, 20 Dresses is listed alongside other in-house brands such as Nykd by Nykaa, RSVP, Mondano, Likha and Pipa Bella. The label focuses on contemporary womenswear sold online.
