What is Sisley?

Sisley is a clothing and accessories brand of Benetton Group, the Italian fashion company based in the Treviso area. It is one of the group's two core brands, next to United Colors of Benetton. The fashion label should not be confused with Sisley Paris, an unrelated French skincare and cosmetics company.

History

Sisley has long been part of the Benetton portfolio. Benetton Group itself was founded in 1965 by Luciano, Giuliana, Gilberto and Carlo Benetton, was delisted in 2012 and is now wholly owned by Edizione, the family holding company. The group has gone through repeated restructuring in recent years. In 2024 the board appointed Claudio Sforza as chief executive, and a restructuring plan launched in October 2024 was supported by a 260 million euro capital injection from Edizione and led to the closure of hundreds of unprofitable stores across the group.

Products and positioning

Compared with the colourful, casual image of United Colors of Benetton, Sisley presents a more minimal, urban and fashion focused style. Its current website offers:

  • Women's outerwear, dresses, skirts and jumpsuits
  • Men's suits, shirts, knitwear and trousers
  • Denim for women and men
  • Linen pieces and a Back to Office city wardrobe
  • Accessories

Seasonal edits such as a K-Edit collection are described as mixing minimalism, attitude and global influences.

Business model and distribution

Sisley uses the same infrastructure as the rest of Benetton Group. Products are sold through stores run directly or by franchise partners, and through national e-commerce sites operated by Benetton E-Commerce S.r.l. The group lists about 2,700 stores across its brands and has identified online sales as a growth area as it reshapes its network.

Why it matters

Sisley gives Benetton Group a second brand aimed at a more style conscious customer than its main label. Its future is closely tied to the group's turnaround, which aims to restore profitability after several years of heavy losses.
